Our little guy falls A LOT, and we've tried a few different helmets to protect his head. This one is our favorite! It's lightweight, adjustable and comes in cute designs. It can easily fit into a diaper bag and can be squished down without losing it's shape.
If you've got a accident prone kid, this is a must! These stick on Corner Covers have saved our kids from numerous injuries. When it comes to our son, he loves to pull to stand, but often loses balance and topples over. These work great on sharp edges like the corners of the toy box or coffee table.
Climbing the stairs is always an iffy situation with our little guy. He loves to climb, but often misses a step or tumbles. We had steps in an area where a typical gate wouldn't work. This retractable one solved our problem! You can have it open when you don't need it, and it doesn't take up too much room, but is sturdy enough to keep our 4-year-old off the steps when we don't want him on them.
At four year's old, our son is still crawling versus walking. To protect his knees while outside, we've tried tons of different knee pads. These seem to work the best. Similar to a volleyball knee pad, they slide right over the leg, so no worrying about straps coming undone. They do loose their elasticity over time, but overall, these have worked best for us!
These plates have been a lifesaver in our house. I've tried many suction plates and these are by far the best I've found. Our son has NEVER gotten them off the table and he's able to easily scoop food out of them.
My son has always struggled to get food into his mouth. These silicone bibs were a gift sent from heaven! They're machine washable, don't soak up liquid, so you can easily dump any milk, juice or water down the sink and they roll up for easy storage in the cupboard or diaper bag.
I can't tell you how much my son loves these touchable bubbles! They harden slightly after you blow them out of the wand making them easy to catch on your hand. They'll land on surfaces too and not pop so littles who are slower moving or need more time to focus on things are able to enjoy popping them with their peers!
My kids loved these spinners, and they were easy to use even for my son who struggles with coordination. They stick to any window or flat surface and make a little noise while they spin too for extra stimulation.
My kids loved watching these gears go round and round. You can butt as many gears together as you like and watch them move. Battery operated, easy to use with fun colors made this an awesome gift for our son!
My son loves cars, and with his balance and coordination issues, these make it easy for him to "drive" the cars while he plays. Simply push the top and off they go!
Bath time is one of my son's favorite activities! He loves playing with these turtles. He can't wind them up, but loves when mom or dad do it. He also loves dunking them under the water and listening to how they bubble as they take on water. He can then lift them up and watch as they "spit" out the water. 10/10 in my book!
For kids who love to climb, but need to be safe while doing so, this couch is great! It doubles as a toddler bed for when friends or family stay over and comes with a machine washable cover for easy cleaning!
My son loves playing in this swing, and I love that it's a safe place for him to get the sensory input he's seeking! It has an inflatable pillow for the base, so even if he loses his balance inside, he's landing on something soft.
These fit perfectly under our son's AFOs. We fold the top down over his top strap to keep him from ruining the velcro on the strap. They have small grippies on the bottom as well to help keep him from slipping when he's not wearing his AFOs and is on a smooth surface floor.
Crawling is how my four-year-old son gets around outside 99% of the time. During the wet, warm months, this rain suit has been a game-changer! It has straps to wrap around his shoes or boots and velcro wrists to keep it in place and keep him dry.
We had a wedding and needed a dress shoe that would fit over our son's AFOs. These were perfect! We took the sole out to make it more roomie, but the tongue pulls out really far making it easy to get our son's foot into the shoe even with his braces on.
Billy shoes are by far our favorite shoe for our son who wears braces. The zipper is so slick, making it easy to get your child's foot in and out without a struggle even with SMOs or AFOs on.
I can't tell you how much time, energy and stress this boot saved our family. I didn't get a pair the first two winters when my son was in braces because the price is higher than I'd ideally like to spend on a boot, but I will never go back. Getting our guy in and out of his snow gear is such a pain, but these boots made it so much easier! They fit right over his SMOs or AFOs. I HIGHLY recommend, especially if you have family or a daycare provider watching your child in the winter months.
I have yet to try these, but another mom said these came in handy at bedtime for their son. They would put these over his diaper at night to prevent leaks. Any product that can help parents avoid laundry is a win in my book!
